LMGT1 Winner

Part one of two.

Aston Martin 009 driven by Brabham, Rydell and Turner puts in another lap with one hour to go to the chequered flag. The heavens opened for the last three hours pretty much and I got completely soaked. My trusty Canon EOS 1D Mk2 took as much water as it could during that period as did my much loved 100-400mm L series lens. They both packed up as we stood right beneath the podium and got soaked by the winners champagne. I have yet to receive the camera and lens back from Canon.

This shot was taken from the Peugeot Sport hospitality suite's balcony which was deserted. At the finish we jumped over the concrete wall and ran up the pit lane.

1/125th F5.6 at iso 250 +0.3 exposure compensation. I hope you like it! Ian Smile

I thought they were waterproof? the kit..

Looks like the Aston could do with a little waterproofing itself around the wheel arch - I'm sure the water isn't meant to come out from behind the panel!

Would have liked to have seen a bit more of the car in this, but it really does show the weather well and given the conditions, I think it's amazing that you carried on taking pics. I did similar a year or so back at Silverstone - but under the cover of one of the big grandstands as my kit is definately not waterproof!

I thought the body would be ok, but was unsure about the push/ pull nature of the lens. See rear in next shot, IanSmile

Great photo mate, at least you ended up with a few photos. Thought the Canon's were supposed to be weather sealed. Hey Ho, never mind- you still have the 30D- just don't get it wet!!!!!!!!!

See you on Wednesday.
