red grouse

red grouse by aitchbrown

well caught - they are understandably jumpy when you point things at them!

(I've still only managed one shot of a black grouse after years of trying)

Critiquing by brian1208

well worth a click for the expressions you have caught.

love the composition and pose

'Bring it on'

'Bring it on' by FeatherFriend

lovely detailed shots
- I've never managed to get a shot of one - out in the countryside here they are understandably nervous if you point anything towards them

Ducks And Buckets

Ducks And Buckets by PeterDSmith

would make a nice image for a child's storybook - lots of detail to discuss with them

Green tree frog

Green tree frog by robst

beautifully caught with excellent pose and detail.
Think it would be even more striking with a plain neutral background

*** by derekv

Beautiful image - full of detail and subtle shades further enhanced by your excellent choice of background and framing

Choosing His Sheep

Choosing His Sheep by danbrann

makes my back ache looking at it although I just used to catch and wrap - never clip

Young Swallow

brilliant capture

Gold Finch

Gold Finch by HarveySquires

Excellent attempt under very difficult lighting conditions. If in doubt when shooting birds I always under expose as you can lighten it later but once it is over exposed and the whites blown you can't do anything about it.

Coppice LV

Coppice LV by tomcat

awesome detail

Female Greenfinch

Female Greenfinch by danbrann

cracking detail, clean perch and lovely clear background
- you are really getting into this wildlife photography!

Under The Bridge.

Under The Bridge. by Roly

I still like the colour version best.
I would be tempted to try a little tone mapping to bring out the detail of the textures

Cascade by edrhodes

love the low angle - thought I would never see an original shot from there

Red Bloom

Red Bloom by Fudge1956

I find it very difficult to capture detail in red subjects but you have made a brilliant job of it

Bee Balm

awesome colour and detail

Some cracking shots since my last visit to your portfolio.
Seems like you can turn your hand to any subject with equal ability.
Great variety and versatility - keep up the good work
I have added you to my "favourites" so I don't miss as many in future

Just to say I will just click and only comment if I have something different to say about your images. At the moment "excellent detail, composition, colour, clarity and light" seems to fit all of them Smile

your portfolio contains such a variety of subjects and every image is stunning. Such flexibility in a photographer is rare. You have great talent

Really enjoyed looking at your portfolio. Keep up the good work and ignore the minority who dislike the "cute and cuddly" animal shots as most people love them.

Have just had a quick look through your amazing portfolio full of well composed images taken in awesome light
- Keep up the good work - I'll be back

Just had time to look through your brilliant portfolio.
I'm new to flower photography and have only tried black velvet backgrounds. I haven't a lightbox and wondered if you could tell what you use for your wonderful coloured backgrounds which tone with the flowers.

Hi Paul, Will be pleased to look at your landscapes but I am a year older than you and a novice. The pieces of advice I was given are:
Remember your image is what you see in the viewfinder - not the surroundings or what you know to be there.
Try to include some foreground detail to give your composition a feeling of depth.
Don't snap away for the sake of it if the light is rubbish as you will just be disappointed.
My idol is Joe Cornish - have a look at his website
He says a good image has TLC (timing, lighting, composition)
Hope this helps

Just stumbled on your excellent portfolio.
You have some stunning landscapes - well composed and in beautiful light. You are now in my list of favourites !
Look forward to visiting you regularly

As a new member I'm just getting round to looking at individual portfolios and have really enjoyed looking at yours. There are some beautiful landscapes and brilliant dog shots. We have quite a bit in common - 2 cheese loving dogs - mine are a border collie and a 3/4 beardie 1/4 border collie who both worked until my husband was made redundant at Christmas when his boss retired. I use a Canon 350D with Canon 17 - 85 IS USM lens and have several unposted images of almost identical composition to some of yours - its uncanny ! Thank you for sharing your lovely images

Added Date: 30/12/2006 - 8:27 AM

The variety and quality of your images are really inspiring. As a relative newcomer to photography I learn so much by studying portfolios like yours
Thanks for sharing

stumbled across your brilliant portfolio after following the link in richardwheel's portfolio. As a relative newcomer to photography compared to many on this site you must learn at a remarkable speed and have tons of natural talent to produce such a wealth of stunning images. I have added you to my favourites so I can keep track of your excellent work
LOL Sandra
