evening light

By bliba
We have heavy storms here in the area where I live. Continuous rain - The flood situation is coming to a head .In the night to Sunday there were devastating pictures from the region of the northern edge of the Alps. Civil defence alerts were issued in Kufstein (Tyrol), Hallein (Salzburg) and Steyr (Upper Austria), among others. A flash flood over the Kothbach river swept away everything in the old town of Hallein, but miraculously there are neither injured nor dead.

I took this picture yesterday evening where I live, the storm clouds are getting closer - but very often they stay north-west of the Danube, the river often serves as a weather divide - fortunately for us.
The two bright spots in the lower left dark part of the picture show the Danube . the downpour is also on the northern bank of the Danube.

This morning, the volunteer fire brigade had to go out and pump out cellars and put sandbags on the ground ...... Now the heavy rain has stopped and the situation is easing a little.

stay safe

ollie

The sky is angry. And our world is far more vulnerable than we like to think.

A very stormy sky, with the rain pouring down. At least a bit of sunshine to brighten the gloom! Hopefully, the worse is past.

A stunning shot Ollie.
These events will become more frequent, unfortunately. I wish we could send you some of pur sunshine (that in itself is a rare occurrence coming from the UK...).
Take care Ollie and keep out of harms way.. I hope you are not getting hit as some of the regions in Western Germany are. The image is fantastic.. The sunset colors and the black sky at the same time beautiful and scary. I understand how people in the Middle Ages would dream up bizarre stories of dragons and devils.. :Wink

The climate Gods are getting angrier each year. The whole world is getting a taste of it. You have floods we have fires. Your picture displays the anger really well.
Take care.

If this photo were taken in the American Midwest, Ollie, I would have wondered if that were a tornado in formation....you have had colossal storms this week....clearly you are experiencing the effects of climate change...warm air holds more moisture. I hope you were OK.

And this is an amazing photo!!!

quite apocalyptic...hopefully the calamities that hit areas in Germany and Belgium (and Austria!) will not repeat themselves in your locality...

The world weather is changing, a couple of weeks back here in Canterbury NZ we had 400mm in 48hrs, where we would usually only average 360mm for a year, crazy weather.
I hope you and your family and friends are not badly affected by this event

It's terrible news about the weather conditions over on the continent and seeing it on TV 😲 Just the opposite here, sunshine all day long with temperatures getting up to 30°C 😎
A very dramatic image, here, Ollie, and the inclusion of the pylon really helps show how immense it is 👍
Take care and stay safe,
Trev 😀
