Giant poppy

By blondspice
One of the spectacular flowers I have never seen before.

GIANT POPPY Romneya coulteri 'White Cloud'

Native to southern California. Perennial, spectacular plant growing to 8ft. or more. Stems and deeply cut 3-4in. leaves are gray green. Flowers up to 9in. wide, with 5 or 6 white, crepe paperlike petals surrounding round cluster of golden stamens. Fragrant, blooms June-July. Flowers handsome in arrangements; if cut in bud, will open in water, last for a few days.

Watering / Sun:
Little to no water; Full sun to partial shade.

I knew -- the moment that I saw that image as a thumbnail -- that it had to be yours, Krystal. The only thing that you need to improve the image (in my opinion), is to experiment with the aperture setting, and focal length; to see just how you might adjust the depth of field. The flower at the upper left possesses -- as I see it, at least -- the most innately interesting "presentation," because it resembles a person clad in "windblown" robes. The remaining image could be adjusted to render a soft, visual bokay. Either of the three flowers could easily lend themselves to being the focus of the "central" subject, actually. The results can be pretty dramatic. Experiment with the image, and you might enjoy what you're able to achieve with it. The surrounding colors provide the perfect material for this. You enjoy impressionist art; this is what you can achieve with that sort of technique.

Thanks Dylan for your encouragement and guidance. I shall "experiment with the aperture setting, and focal length; to see just how I might adjust the depth of field." Unfortunately I wont be going back to that garden in the near future, but I could use the experiment on other things. Thanks for the support and the vote. Krystal

Thank you Pauline and Alvar, you are both always very kind. Thank you Said for nice comment. Krystal
