This is my take on Barbara Pearson's lovely sculpture 'Shelter'. It is not easy to get a good photo of this in its real setting as it lives in a shabby little space between the Square and the car park in Holsworthy. The sculpture was made to commemorate the earthquake in Mexico some years ago and a cast of it is on display in Mexico City. I hope my version does it justice.

V2 shows the whole sculpture in its real setting, and V3 is the rather moving plaque attached to the work.

The background for V1 seems so appropriate, all those concentric curves echoing the lines in the face. Inward-turning, womb-like protection.
