Two wheels to the vaccination

Time for my second jab.
How to get there?....the car is on SORN and with no buses serving the village, it's either train or my scooter. I opted for the latter as it is already sat outside so very little walking is required.
Donning my Belstaff jacket, gloves and helmet I ventured outside for only the second time this year.

Now the old girl is 19 years old, tatty but give her credit she started on the button, so now the first hurdle.
She sits pointing the wrong way, so to turn her I need to start the engine and let her move herself along on tick over.....no problem there.
The next hurdle being the gate which is at a funny angle to the path with a wall and a large bush in the way, requiring a sort of three point turn to get her straight with just half an inch either side.
That's where I forgot that opening the throttle means go go go when you don't have a clutch!
She shot through the gate like a cut cat, with me hanging onto the bars skipping after her, fortunately the brakes worked and the side stand was still deployed avoiding total catastrophe.
I made it to the medical centre without further incident, and was duly jabbed where after the obligatory 15 minute wait, I set off back home again at peak time.
On the way back, 80 mph on the dual carriageway was indicated (much to the surprise of those foolish motorists who mistaking the 250 Piaggio for a 50cc moped, attempted an overtake only to be left sitting in the outside lane ). A quick stop at the village shop was made to collect my self promised treat of a bottle of Teachers and a pack of Scampi Fries. I then had to negotiate the dreaded garden gate again, but this time I remained mounted and rode through without event.

I'm now safely back in my little hermitage fully vaccinated and with no intention of venturing out for a while. 🙂
