Out of the Furnace, Wyangala, New South Wales

This outcrop of exposed and weathered igneous rock is one of many that can be found in the eastern interior region of Australia. A band of thick cloud sat just above the eastern horizon but just after sunrise a couple of small gaps allowed the sunlight to strike the hillside here and there. The colour of the dawning sun was intensified by low level agricultural smoke.

Thanks again for your comment Allan. After trying to take a worthwhile picture of this rocky outcrop for several years on and off, I was very lucky to have interesting light on this occassion, if only for a couple of minutes.
