I would be tempted to crop this so bottom right corner doesn't dominate as it does now - the light on the barge and the left side of shot is good, but the bottom right corner is too dark and dominating for me.

It will work as a square crop as long as you leave some of the right hand side of canal in

This is one of the situations I'd use make HDR image, to bring out detail in the shadows, and keep the detail in the sky.

I agree with Mark (Slaterm) that the bottom right dominates. Looking at a different crop entirely, you could just have the canal and the boats and crop the sky, leaving just the reflection and that wonderful light on the boats.

might benefit from cropping as mentioned, but the light on the boats is beautiful.
