Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol

By BobThomas
Just taken with a cheap compact digital camera, but I think this looks quite nice. I didn't have a tripod with me either, so this was taken at 1/60th of a second. I'm going to go back there sometime soon now that I have my DSLR and take some night time ones (not forgetting my tripod!)

Works really well - goes to show that it's the tog that matters not the hardware. Nice one.

Thank you all very much for the kind words Smile

It was actually a beautiful evening to be out taking photos. I think it was in October sometime last year because it started to get really chilly when the sun had gone down. I also got some amazing photos of the sun setting. I know they're kind of 2 a penny, but with the high clouds the sky was a beautiful orangey/red colour. I could quite happily have stayed there for another few hours (I REALLY wanted to get a night shot of the bridge! I'd even recce'd out a couple of spots to prop the camera up given the lack of tripod that night!) but my "assistant" ie my partner - she'll kill me if she reads this!! Wink - was getting too cold so we called it a night.

This is probably one of (if not THE!) most photographed landmark in Bristol, but out of all the photos you see of it, a heck of a lot of them have obviously given no thought to composing the shot. Not that I'm an expert by any means, but I'm loving learning all the skills involved! Smile

Thanks again for the nice things you've said and for the votes! Smile

I live here and yes it is a well photographed landmark. It is quite hard to get good images most of the time as you are usually shooting into the sun from that angle. So I think you have done very well. When we had all the snow I hiked up to the bridge to get some shots, something I had wanted for a number of years.

Regards Steve.

another great shot well done, could you have taken a better one with your new DSLR? I wouldn't bet on it
