Shame to hide the face! Looked a pretty one too.

Otherwise, it looks a underexposed - did you use auto exposure mode on the camera? If so it could be that the scene was quite bright and the camera chose an exposure that underexposed it.

If your camera can display a exposure histogram you;ll find this a most useful guide to a correct exposure. In general the distribution of the histogram should be bunched around the middle. If it's to one side you can use the exposure compensation facility (if you have one) to compensate - this is usually a problem with dark or bright scenes as the camera will try and make the exposure match a mid grey (18% grey)...

Hope I'm not preaching the converted... Karl.

Well, it was my intention to do so because i think this emphasis the yellow and the blue sky.

it's a lovely image and I really like that you have gone for something different.
I've done a mod to show my thoughts.

I don't know if your camera has spot metering but that would have worked better on the face and you could have bracketed to get this good exposure for the sky etc.

The pose is lovely, it could be an advertisement for natural hair products.

I've simply made layers, lifted shadows and saturated the mouth.
Hope you like it.
