Hello everyone, Im a new member and this is my first submission in this catergory (other is a cat in the pet section!).
I love the implied nude, deep darkness and scultptured body-form of this picture.
The story behind this photo.
ages ago I saw a Revlon advert with Cindy Crawford. It was a colour photo, and I looked at it and thought that it was absolutely crying out for a black and white treatment. It seemed a crime that it wasnt monochrome!
So I decided to put the matter right. I figured out the lighting, and with another photographer (Ian Parker) spent hours reproducing the effect. Got a lovely picture with a model called Wendy.
This is not that picture.
Anyway, my active participation in photography died for a while, and recently I have decided to re-invigorate my photography.
So I booked a studio and a model, and thought What the **** am I going to do?
For some insanely masochistic reason I decided to try to re-create the tricky lighting of that favourite picture.
And to my surprise, the old dog had not lost his tricks, and I got the effect!
Not only that, I managed to improve on the first attempt!
So heres the result, with huge thanks to the model, Jennie, who worked very hard and with great patience! Thanks also to Myk of Bakery Studios, superb chap and great studio.
I absolutely promise my next posting will not have a long crappy story attached to it!!
