This is the first photo I uploaded on this site. It's also one of my first photos shot with a dSLR. The model is my girlfriend Maja, and the scenery is an old semi-demolished house about 50m from my building. Comments are welcome! Smile

The title makes me curious about what the "why" refers to. If it is something that has happened in her life or if it is because the kids have messed up the building behind her or could it be something else...
If I should suggest a change it would be to show a bit more of the face. Perhaps she could sit with the head in her left hand instead.

I thought about it, but, for me, this pose leads the eye toward the house and opens up the photo. If her head was in her left hand, the focus of the photo would lie only on her. This way, the focus is on her and on the house. As for the "why”, it could be about her, about the house, or about life itself. It's the universal why, the one we all face everyday in our world. For me, this photo is a portrait of a time, and of the people caught in it.
