Yes - I haven't often used very wide apertures for landscapes, though often for portraits and nudes.
I was stunned, recently, by the effect of using a 1937 Summar at f/2 on a Sony Alpha 7, and it brought hte phrase 'almost 3D' to life! Really heavy vignetting, too, adding to the effect - and massive falloff away from the centre - something Leitz have fixed these days!
