Duststorm in Death Valley

By bravo charlie
I was caught in a sudden dust storm in Death Valley earlier this year and for a while could only stand with my back to the wind and my eyes shut. When the wind eased I turned round and saw this scene. I believe the "rainbow" was formed, not by rain, but by reflections in the dust, something I had never seen before.
As always I would welcome any comments.

So would one call that a "dustbow", then? Strange phenomenon. And a good capture of it.

What an amazing sight to see! Be a bit eerie, specially being in Death Valley. Nice capture. Pam

The dusted distance, with the strangeness of a rainbow in it, is excellent.

Amazing colour and nice depth in the image. I hope the kit survived the dust !

Great capture, good colours and as Mayfly says, a real depth to the image.

I'm so glad you were there to capture this. I imagine all that silicone in the air would refract light this way, much like any other prism. Wonderful. Yvonne

Living in the Sonoran Deser, I have seen many dust storms but I have never seen a rainbow during one. Great Capture!
