this is my 1st real attempt at photo restoration as you can see i took out the bench to creat a nicer friendlier photo of my sisters 2 dogs lola and chopper. let me know what i coud of done better. and remember it was my 1st go at it.

For the first go at this ..it is very good...The detail in the first shot is not great so you are not going to get it much better..IMHO

About the shot in general first - I think it would be improved by bosting the contrast a wee bit. As for the cloning, a good first attempt. there are some tell-tale marks however. see in the bottom triangle of the cross x-cross shape - there's repeating horizontal ines typical of cloning. This can be got around by taking lots of small samples from different ateas rather than choosing one and trying to do it in one sweep. Also check the settings in the clone tool - In PSP there's one called "step", not sure what it's called in any other program, but it needs set low to keep the repeats down.
Cloning is mainly about patience and care and bulding up the effect gradually. Keep at it..

thanks very much fro the advice stephen. the reason the pic is of poor quality is due to the fact it was taken from a mobile phone camera and through a glass window. i'll try it again however
