this is one part of our mothers day present. my mother wanted photo;s of the 3 of her children. one on there own and one of the 3 together. i shall upload my brother tomorrow. this is my 1st formal portrait shoot i had no lighting equipment just a speed flash. let me know if it could of been improved in anyway?

Move the subject away from the background, and use a larger aperture so that it goes out of focus. A tighter crop might help.

The crop above is a huge improvement. ALWAYS try and fill the frame. You don't say, but 80 to 100 mm are the ideal focal lengths for H&S portraits with 35mm - so you need to use 55mm giving near 80mm on your Nikon.

You have no chance of ideal lighting for formal portraits with one flash on camea, but have done quite well.
