Arachnid Aerobics

By brian1208
Arachnophobes forgive me but I thought this montage may be sufficiently different to be acceptable.

I watched this crab spider in total fascination for about 30 minutes.

In the large left and top right shots it is folding a leaf and sticking it together to make a hiding place (sunshade?).

Middle right and bottom right it is throwing a single strand from its spinnaret (wish I'd got my macro lens on at that moment) and then using it as a bridge to move about the rose garden.

I hope you find it interesting. (The title was my wife's inspiration)

Colourful and fascinating series Brian, really tells a story and gives the viewer an excellent all-round view of the unusual spider.

Really good montage, I like how clear the spider is and the way it makes the web. I have never seen a spider of this colour before as well.

Brian - this is great! Amazing Arachnid Aerobics even Smile
(Only small niggle is I don't agree with the two colours for the border and space, but that's my opinion.)

Richard, Dave, Matt, Patricia & George - thanks you for your kind comments.

Matt, I was in two minds about the internal dividers. I thought it worked OK using one of the colours from the rose leaves - but, as you say - personal taste is always going to differ Smile

Well spotted Patricia!

Believe me, I thought it was some toy, You amazed me then telling the whole story .. Powerful closeup and then strange look of this spider. I saw one I thought was transparent, wish I could get a sharp look as you done here.

Super capturing really I love that web.. I mean out standing really

Well done, I really like it - very amusing. My only niggle would be the borders - they're a tad messy. Click all the same!

Another fantastic set of shots brian! I could tell this was your work as soon as I saw it. Every one is pin sharp, the colours are fantastic, with each one an interesting variation that shows the activities of these spiders.

Compliments to the gardener too as the flowers are wonderful!

Oh, and as for the folding of the petal, maybe this could be the makings of a nest for her eggs?

I'm back again for a second look.
Each of these pictures is awesome as a stand alone (I particularly love the middle frame) , but they take on more impact together as they are.

Once more, thanks for all the positive comments - I wasn't sure how this would go down as so many appear to dislike spiders.

Dave - thanks for the ID

Matt - I can see what you mean - see my comment to the other Matt Smile

John - this presentation style tends to flatter the quality of the image! Thanks for the thoughts. The garden is a joint effort - I do the design and framework planting - Pam does the detail work.

Amy - twice? I'm flattered - LOL

(she was back again yesterday - so there is another shot I'm afraid)

Great shot Brian - missed this as was pretty ill that week. If I had, I wouldn't have spent hours trying to figure out what I'd seen on my orchid shoot.

Good study.
