Flow

By brian1208
Water flowing from a tap photographed against a black background using on-board flash. Minimal manipulation:
- Black Point (to recover from flash greying of background)
- contrast, saturation and USM

The colours are, I think, refraction from within the water tube.

Interesting shot, Brian. The refraction makes it.

Have a go Andy - its great fun - just watch for the splashes. I got the black back board soaked but luckily my camera escaped!

Thanks for the positive comment,

Thanks Mike, I have another in the sequence to put up tomorrow. It shows how changing the rate of water flow transforms the shape of the flow (hydrodynamics primer 1).

Takes me back to my lab days - great fun Smile

Thanks both - I have just printed it as a 10 X 8 for a photo contest. It looks superb (I shouldn't say that, but I was gob-smacked by how it printed out). I'll be fascinated to see what a judge makes of it,

Great shot, Brian. I love the patterns. It's almost a lith film effect.

I tried something similar yesterday but nothing was going right!

It takes a bit of experimentation Dave, I found getting the angles right was the difficult part.

Thanks for the positive comment,

Once more, thanks for visiting. Hope you didn't get to much water with the floods recently, Mari

(I must just tell someone, I put this into my first club competition Wednesday, it got 9 1/2 out of 10! )

Great shot Smile
Very dynamic and crisp.
The refraction colours are a great added-extra, but even without that it would still be great.
Gets my click.
