I found this bumble bee suffering from the cold. I helped her up on to a leaf in the sun and she thanked me by posing for some photos.
I like this one as she re-appeared over the side of the leaf.
Maybe some more tomorrow (if there aren't too many complaints
This is about 1/3 - 1/2 of the full frame
Complaints!? Are you mad. This is a top macro shot. I love it. Post more please.
Yes, I have a complaint, why aren't there some bumble bees like this in my neighbourhood?
Guilty as charged re: madness :0) but thanks for the positive reaction Dave.
See this spot tomorrow,
Maybe because they can "prate geen Nederlandse" Femke, (mind you, neither can I these days - I suspect I've spelt it wrong?
What sound does a Dutch bee make?
Thanks for taking time to look and comment,
A superb shot Brian. Now pop it into photoshop and swap the leaf for a guitar, makes me smile just thinking about it.
Looks as though its grateful to have eventually reached the summit of the leaf Excellent shot - Keith
LOL Bernie. I can't get that image out of my mind! 'Are you ready to rrrrrrock?'
Great shot, Brian. Pin sharp, well exposed and a great capture as the be 'makes it'.
What a capture Brian. Stunning. Can almost hear the sigh of relief as the hands reach over the top. In climbing parlance, a "jug handle"! Big click.
In dubble Dutch, It looks like an ''AAP''
Bernie - I thought that I was bonkers - now I have company. What a superb idea :0)
Thank you both for commenting,
Great macro work Brian nice sharp detail and great composition. Give us more please.
Thanks for the comments Dave, George and Jan,
You are right Dave - I shall probably wake at two in the morning up giggling at the thought! "Bee-Sting and the Bumblers, the new Buzz-Rock Sensation" - LOL
Fantastic photo mate, detail amazing, and the pose just tops it.
Awesome shot Brian. Thats one good lens you have there. Click!
Great Image Brian, guitar or a surfboard :o)...great fun to play around with this in Photoshop I think.
Great shot Brian.......This one is a bit special.
Hey Bri how about the Bumble bee gees..lol
Cor - it seems as if this one has struck a chord with you! Thanks for all the positive comments
Bernie, I think there was actually a group in the late '60s called "Bee Bumble and The Stingers". I'm trying to remember if it was on one of the programmes my kids used to watch or whether it was a real group.
(You know what they say about the '60s, if you can remember them you weren't there!)
Here you go
Bernie - what a star!
Super macro shot Brian,
BTW "Bee Bumble and the Stingers" was a group.
One hit wonders with "Nut Rocker"
Sorry - missed Bernie's link!!
well done Brian. very nice texture on the leaf.
Brilliant shot Brian....absolutely stunning. The detail & composition couldn't be better!
Ken, Les & Mike - more grateful thanks, its nice when a shot you are not totally sure about gets a good review.
Fantastic shot and excellent Macro work! I shall be hunting my backgarden from now on for unsuspecting bees!! Doubtfull I would get the same result though!
Thanks Sally - the key is to get to know your model first (and stroke their fluffy bums - if you feel brave). I'm sure they appreciate the attention
It does help if it is cold, they are very sluggish and so give you more time with each shot.
Superb macro shot.
17 clicks (18 now) and only just onto page 2 - that must surely be a record.
What a great picture Brian, I'm glad to hear you get to know them first before stroking their bums, nice to know there are still some gentlemen left in the world :o)
Steve & flossie, thanks. I'm one of the old school flossie (and got the scars to prove it - LOL).
I learnt the trick from an old bee keeping friend of ours. Mind you, he could do it with honey bees, don't fancy that, their bums are a bit sharper!
Happy the #20th click. Great Macro work creating not only a well captured bug shot but also one that could tell many stories. Keep up the good work.
Excellent macro shot Brian. CLICK!!!
Brilliant Brian, what else can I say that hasn't already been said. Click.
Exploitation..... and a cracker of a shot. Of course the exertion has probably killed her, but it's the shot that counts. That's what my editor used to tell me.
Excellent photo, good story, good comments as well
Thanks Vince, Margaret and Keith. At least I let her keep her clothes on Keith - so I reject the exploitation claim! :0)
Thats just brilliant Brian, it really looks like its holding on to the leaf after a long climb!! Beautifully sharp detail.
Fantastic shot. Well done.
We only have your word for that Brian
Pete, Mari and Brian, thanks for taking time to look and comment.
Keith, remember, I'm one of the older school of gentleman. It will be rice puddings at dawn if you impugn my honour!
What an amazing capture!!
all been said, excellent image
Wow dig that hat! Definitely a Vivienne Westwood. Fabulous shot Brian - beautifully sharp and the title made me smile - very welcome after today

Thank you all for the positive comments,
Another 'bonkers' Brian here. This is amazzzzing! Well done Brian. You should get an RSPCI (Insect) Award for this.
Thanks "BB" - praise from Brians has particular value
Great shots should never get complaints, please keep them coming. Click!
Great close-up, superb shot, WOW.
There's not much I can add to the above Brian.
I'll just add my click'

Thanks Leanne - just been looking at your folio, don't know how I missed it, you have some good shots. Benson looks a character
Wonderful - LOL
Just seen this , and wow what a shot, he looks as though he could be your neighbour peering over the fence. excellent stuff. deserves an EC. could see this in a magazine, in fact its better than most pictures in magazines. big click
This is one brilliant shot.
It is so sharp and how refreshing to have a natural history shot with some humour about it.
Thanks David, Tony and Lesley, I'm glad you appreciated the humour
Stunning shot - love it.
I nearly missed this - how amazing! Cant say anymore - just amazing and wow!
I just came back for another look Brian
Its bloody good - so furry and cute and I normally have a phobia to bees and wasps
I have been out for a few hours and still came back to this image, lol
I am sure its smiling now! x
Chris & Linda, thanks for the positive reaction (Linda - I guess that has to be 3 times thanks?
Hey Brian, indeed, maybe I should try and talk to them in English (without the accent, then). Dear bee... please come to my garden?
Femke - I'm sure that will do it :0)
(did you understand my "dutchlish" then?)
what can I say that has not been said already???????? This is brilliant and deserves every click you have received.
I think this must have the most clicks in all the pictures I have managed to look at so far!
Thanks Jeanie, I appreciate your comment - all clicks gratefully received -
I think you might be finding your own particular style now (referring back to a previous forum thread).....stunning nature and macro shots.
Wish I had as much time on my hands, and I may get to be half as good
Absolutely brilliant pin sharp shot Brian, well done.
Jon, thanks - I hadn't thought of it, but you may be right. Time - I haven't got any time - too busy taking photos and carting your mother about
Warb - where's my Awarb then! - LOL
Mary, thanks to you too,

Have you seen Todays Bumble?
I am going right over, lol
Brilliant shot Brian - steve
Thank you Steve - it seems to have got better reviews than I expected
hahaha! so you didn't expect this? it's such a fun picture, for sure. she looks very human, with her "arm" hanging over like that.
Linda isn't the only one who has come back to this image for another look, I have several times and it just gets better.
You should be thinking about a competition to enter it into!
Hi Lucie - I wasn't sure if others would see it the same way as I did. I half expected a "Oh no - another bug shot" response, but I have been delighted with the positive reaction - thanks again to all.
Lesley Jane, thanks - I'm cogitating - always a slow process these days
brian, you can have an awarb no problem, i thought there was a good chance of an EC tho, and u already hav an RSPCI insect award. i tend not to give awards to photos that already have such a great response as that is award enough is it not? ;o) i try to give them to the ones i personally think should have more clicks/comments. (plus ive just had a look in the warb award warbdrobe, and i seem to be running low)
aww but just look at mr b's face, ok ok.
*congratulations, this photo has received a warb award.
Cheers Warb, an "awarb" has extraordinary value, even more rare than the EC, so many thanks - (you are as daft as I am - compliment!).
Pete doesn't appear to share the view of many - I had wondered, but maybe he did see it as "just another bug shot?"
Watching your BEE is one thing, reading all comments, another.During this, so many new Pictures were posted, i got lack of time.
Thanks for taking the time Jan, Brian
So Brian - this little baby must have won you something by now? Have you entered any competition yet? Do it Do it!
How many times have I come back here now, lol
Morning Linda - I sent the Bumbles off to Total Digital Photographer to see if I can win a copy of Photoshop CS. I'll let you know what, if anything, happens.
Ahhh thanks Brian - good luck!

Eric, thanks - sorry not to have replied before, I missed your comment.
Laura - thanks for finding it, glad you had a smile - it looks really please with itself I think,
Very CUTE! Just the big eyes of the bee, and how it looks like it's struggling up the leaf.. Perfect! Somehow, to me, it kinda reflects the bee's emotions.. I absolutely love it!
Oh.. I forgot to mention the perfect, sharp details!!!
Thanks very much Christine, that's how it seemed to me.
Still getting comments five months on. I think you can safely say this one's a winner.
Thanks Andy & Sam - its always nice when somebody comments on an old posting and to get two in a day is very nice
