The Cockchafer............. Melonlontha Melonlontha ... so good they named it twice.Wink

Found this one floating in my neighbours small pond.... Got it out with a stick - let it dry off then got a few pics before it flew off.

That's a beauty!

There were loads where I lived in France as a kid. The thing to do was to capture one, attach a thin thread to one of the legs and release the insect in the classroom while the teacher had his back turned while writing on the board. Great fun!

Great detail Brian and captured beautifully, well done on the rescue, this fine image is your
reward, this is the first year for quite a few that as I sit at the computer, with the window open,
