This isn't pin sharp as I was hand holding. Wish I had my tripod. No idea what the plant is I guess I should have read the tag.

The plant is a carniverous Pitcher plant it feeds on insects.

The scientific name is Sarracenia purpura if by judging by the picture the rest of the pitcher is red. Insects are lured by a sweet secretion until they take one step two far and slip on the incredibly smooth inner surface. I personally keep several species of carnivorous plants and intend to post a few examples myself at some point.
