Berlin

By brownsilent
Hello again,

Three weeks ago my husband was released into the second half of his part-time retirement. This means, he stopped working. Aye... another phase in our life, now I need to reorganize the whole course of the day and change my habits. I didn't manage so far. We are still in a kind of holiday mood and enjoying our new freedom.

I hope you like the images I took on our trip to Berlin.
V1 - Reichtagsgebaeude - The Parliament
V2 - Bundeskanzleramt - Chancelor's Office
V3 - Brandenburger Tor - Brandenburg Gate
Have a good start into the week,
Johanna

At a time of personal change you have published three images of stature. There is a breadth consistency in these images which is quite powerful Johanna. I wish you both well with your new status.

An excellent set, Johanna.
My first visit to Berlin was in 1971.
My second, in 2002 I think.
My next - is still to come.
The changes between Visit 1 and Visit 2 were unbelievable. What will meet me next?
It's a fascinating city, always to be approached with an open mind.
Thank you for this new insight.
Regards
Bill

Lovely shots - with interesting contrast between the older structures 1 & 3 and the newer structure of the Chancellors Office 2.

Keep on having fun Grin

Good shots Johanna.
And not sure if the gentleman in V3
would have had the freedom to walk around
with such a bold statement on his shirt in the ''old days'' !!

Excellent captures, Johanna. May you both enjoy the retirement years together. Carol
It's a whole new way of living Johanna, I hope that you fall into a good working relationship without falling over each other in the first few months of retirement. I wish you both the very best of luck and a happy retirement. You wake up each morning and know you don't have to get up, just yet.

I was lucky enough to visit Berlin in the 70's before the wall came down, The gate looked quite different as did the Reichstag building.

All the best my friend,
Dougie

A very good set of architectural images Johanna. Retirement: I am glad that it has started out as in a holiday flavor - so many have a hard time when the husband suddenly is home all day! Personally, I'm looking forward to it, especially to the days I ask to have my dinner cooked Tongue

V1 is my favourite, Johanna, hope you had an enjoyable trip.
I do know people who dread their husbands retiring, but I'm sure this isn't the case for you. I find it wonderful having time to do exciting things together with all the time in the world, but we always worked together, so it's just a case of still being together but in a more leisurely fashion.

Yes, hope you have never ending holiday Smile
that is not the Berlin I remember. Last time I visited the wall was still up, I remeber plenty of very old building, lots of rust and railways run by the East. Also lots of Turks who served fantastic food in streets that were incredibly wide. You could have installed another row of shops on the sidewalk!
I was in Australia when the wall came down and I didn't believe it, I thought that was a joke.
