I don't find it either offensive or too raw - it's a fact of life for these people. At least they use various parts of the animal for the greater good (ie keeping warm in harsh conditions) rather than killing for the sake of killing. And he's used an animal to do it - not a gun. It's a bit like Eskimos wearing seal skin clothes - it's fine if people just see the finished article on someone's body up there, but seeing it at this stage before the fur/skin/meat is used is always unsettling, as it shows the reality. I think it's a very good image.

Superb shot both as a documentary shot of another way of life where killing is done for survival not some sick 'sport' and photographically. 1st class photography.

I agree with all that's been expressed.
Anyone who finds this depiction of life offensive, is the one with the problem.
This is neither offensive nor raw - simply real.

A splendid image. Thank you.

The time and work it must take to train an eagle. The trust they both must have in each other. A superb and most interesting image. I'm sure that fox will both clothe and feed, man and bird.

Nothing offensive about it, it's very documentary in style and portrays a way of life. The walking figure suggests the hunter 'returning' and the landscape around gives lots of context. Like hunting foxes with hound & dogs, I expect using a eagle is a lot less effective than shooting the foxes so these traditional hunting methods generally prevent over-predation. Just ask the american bison! Congrats on your 2nd placing in the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards, same guy and gear I believe? A very well deserved accolade for a brilliant image.

Fabulous image. I love foxes (and Eagles) but know they are pests and need culling and, in other countries, they offer more than saturday afternoon entertainment! The expression in the hunter's face really tells you how harsh the environment is

National Geographic material if ever I saw it Si, this is a fascinating image that gives us a real insight into their way of life and shows us how hard it is for them to get by in those harsh conditions
