Lets make babies!

Plague Soldier Beetle - Chauliognathus lugubris or Chauliognathus pulchellus. Also known as Green Soldier Beetles.

These darn beetles are thick lately.

Tis mating season and you can see them in pairs all over Canberra. I have had to swat them out of the way just to get to the clothes line. I dont dare open my mouth outside for fear of swallowing one. Well that would be my protein for the day!

If you look closely, you can see the males body curved round to meet the female's. They stick like glue whilst this occurs and seems to take a long time too.
