Donna's Rose

By cabinfever
Taken with the CWC last year. Daylight, against some black card.

I know they're not to everyones taste but I quite like mono flower portraits.

The light play is lovely and adds a warmth to this beautiful mono image.Often feel that roses lend themselves more to mono images because of their varied textures which you have picked up here.

This is excellent work
Subtle and nicely understated. Well lit and in perfect focus.
I've played around with a few mono conversions of images of flowers and I've found that there's a huge amount you can achieve with just a little patience and experimentation.
Roses seem to work particularly well, dafs. aren't bad either. I think it's because of the texture rather than their shape. You get lots of tiny but interesting shadows to conjure with!

Gorgeous lighting brings out the subtle texture of the petals. Lovely image - well taken.
