This image shows three of the northernmost peaks of the Cuillin range on the Isle of Skye which bound the wild and remote Lot and Harta corries. I think this is one of the roughest and wildest mountain landscapes one can experience in Britain and I find the very dark and rough nature of the rock here seems to lend images to b&w conversion.
On the left, Am Basteir is immediately recognisable by the 'Basteir Tooth' which projects from its western end. The obviously high and triangular summit which is almost centre is Sgurr nan Gillean (peak of the young men) and is often the starting or ending peak when making the physically demanding traverse of all the main summits of the Cuillin Ridge. The dark peak which appears in front of the other two is Sgurr na h-Uamha (peak of the cave or hollow). It is a bit of an outlier and not usually included in a traverse of the main ridge but is said to be an excellent vantage point. I have not yet climbed it so something to go back for.
The shot was taken in June this year from a vantage point on Sgurr na Stri to the south.
