I agree Dave - I didn't have a long enough lens and had to enlarge the images a fair bit - also it wasn't too bright and perhaps I should have pushed the ISO a little more to get a shorter shutter speed. Difficult beasts to capture ! Thanks for the coment

We have a "purpureum" - they really do look good at this time of year don't they - great shot

You have solved a problem for us Mike - as we drive around down here in Pembrokeshire the roadsides are full of this stuff - the colour really stands out and they look fantastic - great shot and more compelling reasons to buy an Ixus !

I like the colour also - they are "dated" and "muted" colours that suit the image - I suspect the saddle could tell many stories!

The depth of field that the Ixus gives continues to amaze me - I just know that if I tried that shot with my DSLR I would struggle to get the focus and DoF as good as that - great shot Mike

Fabulous shot Mike - it makes me wonder why I continue to lug around a large bag full of DSLR bodies and lenses etc when a tiny compact can produce such fantastic shots (in the right hands of course !!)

Very nice shot Mike - clear and crisp but with a hint of the "old world" in the reflection

  • I can reach that

Pretty impressive Mike - quality doesn't seem to have sufferred at all by being wide open. Colours look very good and it's a very "crisp" shot.

Best so far I think Mike - I like the way the surfaces are catching the light, and the overall shapes.

I accept the comment about "blown" sky but sadly I didn't have a tripod to do some bracketing, or a Grad filter with me, which would have improved the image.

I accept the comment about burnout in the sky area. I have uploaded a second version with the sky area "pushed" a little in photoshop.

I think it's a little beyond "pleasing" Mike - I love the colours, the shapes and the water droplets.

Lovely shot MIke - I like the contrast - it gives the shot some impact, and yes we also have frequented the Ship Inn many times !

Thanks for the feedback everyone - the shot was about a 60 - 70 second exposure at midnight on New Years Eve - I was lucky to catch the trail of the rocket - the other three shots I tried didn't come out so well,

Lovely series of shots Mike - and yes it is a very difficult place to capture - you have managed to get some "different" views here - well done.
