I'm still waiting to capture an iamge of a kingfisher and along come you with two mating, I'm not really envious. Seriously its a great image,well focused on the "action" and a wonderful spot. John.

All I have ever seen is a flash of blue skimming the water...
A faster shutter speed would have been nice but the main thing is that you grabbed the shot! A good crop, contains the scene nicely. Can I suggest a bit of very discreet use of the Burn tool to define the birds a bit better, mainly to be used over the heads and chests. Nothing extreme - set to Shadows, brush size large enough to sweep easily over the head and just 2% or 3% exposure. I think it would give them more 'presence'.

Undoubtedly there could have been more detail with perfect settings (whatever they are) but hell, you got a shot in a million, so well done for that.

I just looked in my birdbook to see if we even have any kingfishers. We have a belted KF. Nothing like these beauties. What a great capture Ed.......Sandy

Seems they have come back to Slimbridge Ed, they were missing for a couple of years, they are playing leapfrog.

It was pure luck that I captured this and from miles away too, this was cropped very heavily! It was a once in a lifetime experience a bit like hitting a hole in one in golf!Smile
