52 Week Challenge - Week 3 - Mono

The challenge for this third week of my 52 week challenge was mono. Today was the first day I was able to get out and about. It was a flat, dull day with the remnants of yesterdays snow more like slush and ice and nothing to particularly write home about. I did manage to get a few shots though.

I saw these art structures outside of the Jubilee library in Brighton, they had images on one side and words on the other. I was framing them up to see if I could make something of them when the little girl ran along beside them (hence she is a little blurred), perhaps imagining she was an aeroplane.

Some of the structures atop Brighton Pavilion.

Black and White Hat

I'd just finished taking some pictures of Brighton's West Pier and returned to the promenade and I immediately bumped in to this gentleman and his magnificent black and white hat. I explained the challenge to him and I politely asked him if I could grab a few shots to which he kindly agreed.

West Pier

A long exposure shot of Brighton's derelict West Pier. Dull skies, dull sea and a Lee Big Stopper.

Hope you have not been poorly. If so, glad you are out and about again Smile

West Pier
The so subtle difference between the greys of the sea and the sky is excellent, I can just detect the horizon.

Just love the architectural details and a good range of tones.
Perhaps a small crop on the left just to balance with the tight crop of the dome on the right.

Overall, an excellent set of mono images but I do think the rather gloomy weather has helped you out Smile

Grey skies aren't always bad Smile
