I've seen this headstone many times and often wondered what MRCSL stood for. Today I did a little research and discovered that it stood for 'Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, London' (now England). I wonder where Jose came from; Spain perhaps, or was his Father a sailor who married over here and gave his son an exotic name. Did Jose also acquire bodies to practice on from the same graveyard where he lays now?
