Hi all

I haven't been on this site for ages (partly time, and partly because when I do I can only look at about 2 pages before this Mac goes on strike and won't open any more - very frustrating!) and I know I'm missing some amazing shots. The withdrawal symptoms have finally got to me and I'm determined to have a good old browse on the site (if the Mac will let me).

I'm starting my come-back with this image that I took quite a few weeks ago at Camera Club and have only just got round to looking at. I shot it completely manually without the aid of a parachute but can't for the life of me remember what settings etc. I used. I do know that I'd like to thank members there for the loan of their flashlights, backdrops, advice and tips (the garlic was mine).

Spring is almost upon us and I look forward to seeing many cheery images of daffies, snowdrops, sheep and other hopeful symbols of the season to come, and no, I'm not being facetious. I'm off to see what's already been uploaded (please don't be offended if I simply click and run. I have a lot to catch up on....)

All the best to all EPZ friends

Nooooooo! I missed the Match A Print comp???  And I've been looking forward to that for months!! The editing, BTW, is a (clumsy) tidy-up of the fluff on the velvet. Hadn't noticed it before.

Jennn - it's only this site that suffers, for some reason. Perhaps it's all the data in the photos so I will empty the cache and see what happens - thanks for the tip.

Excellent shot. I think it could use a little more space to the right and there are a couple of faint blobs that ought to be cloned out of the background but everything else is superb.

The camera settings are recorded in the EXIF data in the file. Looking at the focal length and maximum aperture, I'm guessing you used a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro lens?

Thanks everyone for your comments - it's good to be back! Sadly the Mac is still being bolshy so any commenting I do will be somewhat sporadic!
