late autumn skipper

By CarolG
With no internet connection, and time on my hands, I managed a few trips to the meadow during the odd dry spell, on the off-chance of spotting anything interesting. Yesterday morning I saw 5 different species of butterflies, skipper, red admiral, painted lady, large white and small copper. Here are a couple of skippers I captured, and I couldn't resist the manipulation in V.1.
Very many thanks for the lovely welcome back messages, and special thanks to the four wonderful members who gave my mantis their user award.

These are lovely! All of them could stand on their own, but I especially like the butterfly at an angle, with an out of focus background, so today version 1 is my favourite! Smile

I agree with Karen, Carol: like what you have achieved in V 1, managing to isolate the bloom and insect so well from the b/g.
Very well done.
Ronnie.

We've just had a night of heavy rain and gales, all quiet now. Glad you managed to get out and 3 super images. You are lucky the butterflies are still around. Take care friend.

The brown skipper against the yellow flower is just perfect..
V3 is a very natural nature image with b/g defocused but your
work in V1 is perfect. Back in form.

So nice to see you still find butterflies at this time of the year... Had a walk in Hyde Park looking for greens, nut a bug on site... IB

v1 is very well worked and I like the detail in v3, but I'm going for v2 with the natural background and diagonal orientation.

Don't think I've seen 5 butterflies this year, never mind 5 different species.

Three tremendous close ups Carol, each one deserves an upload in its own right. I saw one red admiral earlier this afternoon which was brought out by the glorious sunshine which we had all day until around 4pm when it reverted back to the usual heavy rain!

Like the work on v1 Carol. Must admit this is the first time I've seen skipper with wings open.
