lone survivor

By CarolG
This poor anemone has a very sad story behind it............... I went for a walk yesterday, heading towards the meadow normally carpeted with wild anemones. Horror of horrors, when I got there I found that the whole area had been bulldozed, presumably preparing the ground for the erection of a new house, and not an anemone to be seen. On closer inspection I found this lone survivor amongst a sea of mud and stones. She was duly rescued and came home with me, placed in a glass and photographed, and here she is, a reminder that not everyone shares the love of nature that I hold very dear to me.

Perfect! Love the colours and detail. Sad to hear about them bulldozing wild flower patches though.

A lovely story and a lovely flower for which the simplest of vases is better than the fate it escaped.

It's lovely Carol Smile

Sorry to hear about the destruction of the others. Not everyone respects our precious wildlife or even people too sometimes.

Hope you have a nice day Smile

we had two beautiful and wild set aside fields for at least the thirteen years that I have lived here. Now that set aside is no longer on the government's agenda they are to be ploughed up and the lovely tall hedges have been slashed almost to the ground, it's spoilt the look of the place totally. I shall miss my walks through them in summer with all the buzzing insects and wildflowers. Sad
I'm glad you managed to salvage this to photograph, it's beautiful,
Chris.

Just catching up on lost time on site and I come across your heart rending tale. I was going to say lose the glass and the picture would be better. Then I read your commentary, therefore it stays.
Well shot, well rescued, not to be forgotten.

So simple and yet very poignant Carol, the way you've blurred the glass slightly, helps to project the flower too...
