I can find another couple of images of this but they just call it a yellow shield bug. It does look quite special, Carol, and v1 is a superb image of it.

What a fantastic set of close ups Carol, i think you may have to contact the Insect Society of Crete or the Local Wildlife Trust if you want it id'ing, if KarenFB or the Big O can't id it for you the rest of us won't have a scoobies!
