That's a large selection of different critters, Carol, but your V 1 is possibly the most interesting simply because I don't recall ever seeing one before.
I believe they can give a nasty sting, and I remember hearing way back in my youth that someone in our district actually died of anaphylactic shock after being stung by one.
The detail and colouring in V 1 is excellent.
My next favourite (although that is possibly not the most apt word) is V 6, again for detail captured.
Ronnie.

Close......But no cigar today Carol! Sad It isn't a hornet, but a Volucella zonaria, the hornet mimic hoverfly......A very easy mistake to make admittedly!.....I know I'm a pedantic bugger, but it's how we all learn Tongue

V4's Tiger moth image for me, but you'd expect me to say that.....GrinGrinGrin

Sorry.....Ade Smile

I like vers 1 the best. I once fell into the trap of mistaking one for a hornet.
A good test of a hornet is to tread on it and it won't squash, they are very hard, and then it will get it's revenge by stinging you. Grin
