As you say, the spider has to eat. This is a brilliant documentary series.
Wonderful series Carol & so very well taken - again! You are tempted to feel sympathy for the bee but as you say thats nature for you! Lou

Unbelievable Carol. A great series of pictures of nature red in tooth and claw (and poisonous bite), the bee is so much bigger than the spider as well.

What an event to capture so brilliantly on camera, Carol: as you indicate, sometimes you want to interfere, but this is nature in the raw for sure. Great set of shots.

It's the old thing, Nature red in tooth and claw, but quite amazing to see in close-up like this. Presumably the spider uses venom to immobilise its prey? Superb set.

Nature in the raw and so well documented here Carol, you and me both witnessed a kill as it happened, me with my crab spider and you with this one. Like you say, it is hard not to intervene but nature must take it's course and we, as photographers, must record the proceedings if we are lucky enough to be there at the time.

This is a splendid set of natural history shots recording the kill in detail and showing poison that comes in small packages has mighty big power over it's prey.

You captured this event beautifully. I imagine you wandering around your garden all day with camera in hand, to get an opportunity like this! V2 is my favourite, great composition and clarity.
Well nature is nature but I can't help feeling sad! A fantastic set of images Carol.

So Carol, into 'snuff movies' now Tongue. Evil, vicious git of a spider! But seriously, nature is nature as you say, but can be so cruel. Top marks for holding back from intervening, don't know if I could have. Great series of shots. Moira

'Gosh,...Carol,...I am going to protest Insect violence,' here. In v1, it looks, as if the Bee's body is truncated, or cut in half. Finely colored & detailed set of images of the 'reality of Nature.'
