scorpionfly

By CarolG
Spotted the odd scorpionfly in the garden recently, they usually don't make an appearance here until April.

My visit to the orthopaedist yesterday didnít go as well as expected. He told me that four of my lower discs were very badly eroded, but that there was no surgical treatment that would help. He has prescribed yet more tablets, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and painkillers, and I have to return in three weeks to see if the tablets have offered any form of relief. I am still unable to sit for any length of time, so apologise for not being able to return to ePZ in full strength, as I had hoped.

Lovely light well captured macro shots of a strange but lovely insect. Does it do what it's namesake does sting it's food or is a defence mechanism?

A new one on me Carol, and superbly captured, especially like V3 showing what would be a stinger in a scorpion.

V1 for me, Carol, but did you tell him that he wasnt due to appear yet? I don't know whether that's a good or a bad sign, but I suppose insects are getting confused by the unpredictrable weather, just like the flowers.
I was so sorry to hear your disappointing news, and hope there is some way that you can be made to feel more comfortable.
