High key Nicola

By carriebugg
A slightly different one this time of Nicola - would appreciate what you guys think of this, and the treatment. I liked the way it makes her eyelashes stand out.

Thanks again for all your lovely comments on the series and keep em coming!

Love the shape of this, the pose is great, the highkey effect is just on the harsh side, I would have liked to see the edge of the hair on the right side of her head and a little more detail in her left eye. But I like it.

Was only kidding about the swap lol

I like the idea behind this.
Two things spoil it for me though. Firstly
the way she is sitting her shoulders are hunched and so you have lost her neck. Its probably just me, but she has an expression like she is holding her breath.
Secondly her leg doesn't look 'right' its too far away from her body, almost like she is standing and its somebody else's.
Maybe if the leg was more in view, ie higher
it would look more leg shaped and would fill the huge void there is at the moment, and move the leg closer to the body.
I can't help but compare it this one.

Thanks guys.

Martin - thanks for your comments. I've added the original photo as it came out of the camera to the mods. It's definitely her leg! I think her legs are just slim - which is why maybe it looks odd to you.

The photo you've compared it to is great and I strive to be able to take photos like that. As this was my first real portrait session with studio lights I'm still quite pleased!

Agree with Martin, theres something about that leg that makes it not look attached properly. Still a damn fine shot.
