What a fantastic image!! Please see the little improvision done in about 10 minutes. The first image in Modification was uploaded by mistake which I could not remove for some reason or should I say I did not know how to! what I did was....
Opened in PS then select Dodge tool with Highlights and 50% exposure then brush over on eyes and around eyes but not pupil (with white FG colour in tool paltte). Now duplicate layer by Control/Command +J and select Lasso tool and make a selection of Dog and right click on selection and feather by 50, then inverse selectionby Select and the Inverse from top menue then go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur and give radius of 7.6 then click OK and flatten image by holding Shift+Command/Control and hit E. After that I applied one of my action (edge sharpening USM 90%) then bit of sharpning on some of the area, that's all.
Hope this helps in future! and thank you for allowing me to process your lovely image.
