Stag 3

By CathyT
I was so close I was scared.

Took the dog out this morning and this stag was really close to the path so I went back and got my camera and tripod. By the time I'd got back he was even closer to the path and just standing there, this was taken with a 70-300mm lens and I could only just get him in shot. one point he started coming towards me but luckily caught site of someone else along the path and changed his mind.

I've never tried to out run a stag before...

Thanks Richard V1 is more true to life with the colour but I prefer the V2 too. Just a bit warmer....its pretty colourless in the forest at the mo.

A beautiful animal this young Stag ( there is no need to shoot it !!!) Cathy, well placed in the frame and aware of you. As for out running
forget it ! stand your ground instead and make a lot of noise !!

Rule of Thumb Cathy...........ALWAYS keep your distance, better safe than sorry !! He's only a young fella, but could still inflict some damage if he so wished.
I too prefer the slightly warmer tones in V2 and as you have stated, pretty bland ATM Sad
Well done capturing him though, despite the shaking Wink

Apparently the farmer has very right to shoot on his land as long as he has the correct riffle........Sad

a stunning capture, i ended up in the bushes after one of these came charging down the path towards me, i'll remember to make lots of noise next time, ( while cowering for cover that is)Smile
i hope he don't get hurt even if they can be dangerous.
