Getting around

By mrswoolybill
Continuing the story of Robert's 60th birthday. A very photogenic dancer, who changed partners fairly regularly in the course of the evening. You'll see her with another guy tomorrow.
1/5 second, hand-held, rear curtain sync with the D90's on-board flash.
This is dedicated to Mikbee, who has been very patient...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Wow, I've been having my breakfast and this has taken off! Thanks very much and Good Morning ePHOTOzine! Re the low angle, there's a short flight of stairs leading down to the stage door and I was sitting on them. Marginally more comfortable than kneeling on the floor...

Excellent tonality and movement. I like this one best so far Moira. It's lovely and clear with just a bit of blur where it counts.

Moira, the thing with the rear curtain sync flash setting is that the flash fires at the end of the exposure rather than at the beginning, as the standard setting will give. This means that you can have a trail of motion blur and then the flash gives a sharp image frozen at the end of it, rather than the beginning. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks again everyone. Al, I have another set to upload tomorrow, after that I shall have to wait for some more action.

That's what I was working on all evening Dougie! It really makes you concentrate. Particularly as the effect works best when the dancers are moving faster.

Not surprised she had a few partners Moira.
Even I would forgo my Guinness and cut the rug with her for a Dashing White Sergeant or two !!
And ''Miss tight fitting jeans'' next to her, would be next on my list for an Eightsome Reel !!
Good shot, and worth the merry dance I had for the wait !!

Love this motion effect, Moira Smile I took a night shot of Lynne Joyce in Venice on one of the few occasions I use flash, and using a shutter speed of 1/8 sec and caught someone in a red coat moving in the background, but my camera was set to fire the flash at the beginning Smile
