There is only one world; the world pressing against you at this minute. There is only one minute in which you are alive; this minute here and now. The only way to live is by accepting each minute as an unrepeatable miracle.

  • The Head by cattyal

I must apologise for my late return but it doesn't make my thanks for comments, clicks and awards any less genuine. Thanks everyone!

Indeed I do still have the skeletons Dave - though now both have lost their heads. Well they're not actually lost but no longer attached. I recall one coming adrift when he fell down the stairs but can't remember how the other lost it!

Apologies for the late return - thanks everyone - and thanks too to Joline and Keith for your awards.

The more I look at this the more I like it - not that I didn't like it - if that makes any sense Smile

Quote:You are doing well still having them.

They have done well given they are in pots but sat on the earth. I've one that is a good 6 foot tall that has finally decided to start producing buds!

  • A Bee by cattyal

Thanks everyone and thank you Ron for your award Smile

Sadly the wee beasties are getting harder and harder to find now - they're still out there but I've really got to hunt them down now!

Thanks everyone and thank you to Pamela and Helen for your awards Smile

When I took the pic I thought I'd probably dump it once I got home but suddenly thought I'd crop it right down and bingo - it came out ok Smile

  • More Ants by cattyal

A belated thank you everyone and to David, David, Ron and Alan for your awards Smile

Apparently Ants share food in this way - trophallaxis - but theory is that they can also affect the development of the young larvae by passing on growth proteins and juvenile hormone as well as other 'stuff' - all too complicated to write and understand this afternoon!

They're lovely flowers and keep going well into the autumn which is handy. I noticed last weekend that they do need cutting down and in the spring will need thinning out a bit otherwise my posh Rosa Mundi rose will be hidden by them!

  • Posted on: October Photo Month Winner Week 3

Thanks again everyone - it was certainly a very pleasant and welcome surprise to find I'd won and nicely timed as I've recently been thinking about going four thirds for the times when I didn't want to lug the Sony around but still have the option of using different lenses.

I'm more than happy not to see any snow for a while Chris! That said I will be nipping up to the park again should we get a decent dollop of the stuff Smile

Thanks Pete Smile I don't usually venture out in the snow but last year I finally bought a pair of Yak-Trax for my boots and was quite happy to go stomping about in it. This was the first day of snowfall - and the best.......

Quote:I'll give him one thing though - I've now spent about 10 times longer looking at Joe Klamar's shots than I would have spent looking at a bunch of perfectly lit and processed sports team promo style portraits Smile

Same here - the UK pics I just scrolled through UK ones thinking 'same' 'same' 'same' etc.

Who knows what the real story is but it's nice to see the athletes as real human beings instead of glossed/buffed superheroes.

  • Posted on: Protect Your Lens With A 'Tasty' Wrap

I don't have a 'Dork' vest but do often sling a lens in my non-photo bag when I'm using the small camera case - something a bit more substantial, and less fluffy, than an old sock to put it in would be good Smile

Thanks for the info Sam - admittedly video is something I've never dabbled in - I'll bear it in mind though should I decide to dabble!

I've just done a shoot this evening with the R1 - two nippers - and it beats the pants off the Sony A350 which I used on the last shoot with the same two girls. For now I'll stick with those two cameras and resist buying another Smile What I really want next is an IR converted camera - my current one seems to have pretty much died Sad

  • Posted on: Sony Cybershot HX100v Ultra Zoom Review

I'd love to try this out and see how it compares with the R1. Both have goodies that I'd like to combine into one and the faster frame rate would be more than welcome.

Ah - just noticed it's not got a flash-shoe - I don't use flash all that often but would need that option. Good - that's just saved me a few hundred quid Smile
