I'm going to upload this now before I fiddle any more with it - I keep seeing faults and tweaking this and that and I'm actually wasting my time!

I had the urge to do a few self portrait shots this morning - in the confines of my diddy bedroom where I could turn on the fan heater and get it nice and toasty in there. I had planned to use the studio but this was far more civilised if a little cramped.

As I said, fiddled with - varying degrees of diffuse glow, an infra-red B&W layer, the odd imperfection removed Smile

A very siren-esq feel to this shot. Like it.

Thank you everyone - glad you approve Smile

Thank you too for the mod - film noire is definitely on my list of favourite genres - I really need to work on my lighting setup to be able to tackle it properly - though half open curtains worked quite well today Smile

Indeed mother does know what I do - more or less - whether she approves or not is another matter Smile

Hopefully it will - I just need to get organised - the tricky bit!

And indeed the cat is out of the bag - she might stay out for a while as long as I can keep bleaching my face out with the wonderful diffuse glow - it hides a multitude of sins Smile

Watcha Alison,

good self portrait, mystery pic. Good to see the face not the bag, the multitude of sins is life, and there's nowt wrong with it.

It's called procrastination, I write and paint as well as take photos and before I can get started, I fiddle, anything to put off that awful moment of commitment. Most creative people suffer the problem in one form or another, it's easy to notice when you find yourself tidying the desk, or making another cup of coffee when you've just downed one. Fiddling with the work is not so easy to spot, well, your working, aren't youSmile Someone once said, can't remember who, 'An artist needs someone to look over his shoulder and snatch the brushes away before he ruins the painting.' very true.
best

Plenty of life in this face Mick Smile

Yep - that is so true about needing someone to stop me before I ruin pics - alas I have only my own judgement to go by so procrastinate I will Smile
