The Good Fairy II

By cattyal
Second attempt - I found some silly kid's glasses in town and figured they were worth a quid.....

I'm still not getting quite what I'm after - it's not for want of trying so I guess I'd better settle down to some tutorials and see if I can crack it....

I really like this series Alison, very inventive, and I always check for new ones. Keep up the good work. This again is another one that made me smile (and think on).

If I had a (hopefully) constructive crit about this one, it is that the texture/overlay does nought for your skin. Perhaps restricting it to the background and bandages, or maybe mute it slightly. Personal pref on my part maybe. Anyway, keep up the truly inspiring work.

Paul

PS Oh, and the glasses work!

Hi Paul

Thanks for the crit - indeed I'm not happy with the overlay on my skin either - I just can't seem to crack getting it elsewhere and not on my skin! I did watch a video tutorial somewhere which showed me what I'm getting wrong but I can't remember where it was or what I wasn't doing right - obviously I'm not drinking enough voddy Smile

It's not actually the pic I'd planned today but lost interest when I couldn't find the dress I needed so ended up with this one instead - again nothing new there!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series . Unfortunately /or fortunately I cannot find anything to criticize. I think they are imaginative and well constructed images.

Can you not simply remove the texture layer from the bits that you'd rather not cover by using the same technique that you would when applying selective colour (colour popping)?

Or have I got it completely wrong . . . ?

Jester.

Almost Jester but when I remove the texture layer the lower layer is a completely different colour and I've yet to match up the colours successfully. I'm working with three layers and as I work my way up the colour changes. I know what I'm talking about!

Actually I can get away with just the two layers - I'll add them just in case anyone wants to play.

I didn't think you'd have overlooked something as basic as that!

Oh I wouldn't put it past me sometimes! I do like to start at the straightforward and if that doesn't work then move on to something else - the something else is rather elusive however but I enjoy the challenge...

As with most things in life . . .

. . . if it was easy, it would be no fun!

Just popped back Alison and Jester has gone through all I was gonna suggest.

So, if the voddy is your creative juice then power to your elbow girl Wink
Here's looking forward to the next in the series.

I've just been in the garden annoying snails Smile

There is a technique using adjustment layers but I've yet to remember precisely what I'm supposed to do. However I'm starting to suspect that it was dealing with textures rather than coloured grunge layers so it probably wouldn't work anyway Smile

Heck - it keeps the grey cells working.

As for the voddy - sadly none tonight as I've run out - just water this evening but that won't do me any harm.

Funnily enough I did look at the Gladdies in Tescos this evening but didn't think to buy any! Maybe I should do a quick sneak round the neighbours gardens to see if anyone has some!

Thanks for the mod Dave - and the 'interesting' write up that went with it! As usual I didn't even consider mono - I really must get my act together as it does save a lot of faffing about!

Love the glasses.....lol @ Roy !
Did a quick mod to see if the method I sometimes use, on some bits of an image, works.
