There is only one world; the world pressing against you at this minute. There is only one minute in which you are alive; this minute here and now. The only way to live is by accepting each minute as an unrepeatable miracle.

I'm trying out a camera for a friend to compare the images with the ones from my camera so that she can figure out if her dissatisfaction with it is due to the camera or user.

The AA batteries died tonight and took them out, popped them in the charger and left them on the kitchen counter. Some time later as I was just near the kitchen door I heard some rather odd noises and went to explore.

Yep - they weren't rechargeable batteries were they - I just stupidly assumed that they would be - and now I have a knackered charger and four fizzing leaking batteries - yay........

Good job I have another charger!

ooops indeed!!

The best rechargeable batteries around are the Durecel (spelling?) Long Life ones. They are expensive, but they last for ages - even when not being used!! They really do keep their charge!

I'm just happy I didn't leave them in the slow charger overnight - I dread to think what might have happened had they had juice feeding into them for hours!

I'll bear the Duracell ones in mind - all my rechargables were of course flat as pancakes as I very rarely use them but I'll get a set charging as soon as I get home this evening and hopefully actually be able to use the camera!

Now that's interesting as I was thinking about buying another charger Smile

How much . . . ? !

I bought a battery charger which came with four AAs and a spare set from ASDA for less than they want for just the charger.
I use four batteries at a time in the monster sized flash that I bought incredibly cheaply from a car boot on the market yet they last for absolutely ages.
They are without a doubt the best performing rechargables I've ever used.
And I've been running a bridge camera and more recently, that flash on rechargables for years.

I did have to nip into Argos and grab a charger there in the end as the camera I'm trying out refuses to take anything - not even the same type of Duracell batteries that were in it when it was handed over. I'll be returning the camera soon and want to take it into town with me today.

At least the charger I bought flashes up a warning if you put disposables in so as long as I'm paying attention I won't be making the same mistake again!
