Arty Farty Cosmos

By cattyal
Another Cosmos - one of the first pics I took yesterday evening and now that particular flower is pretty much done for.

No joy with tonight's efforts - the lights need servicing so I guess I'll have to sort that out - in the meantime I must get up into the loft and get the cool-lights back down Sad

Arty Farty works for me, Alison: a beautiful image, the wide aperture singling out the leading petal edge for particular attention.

Having learned to do macro images,
I'm still getting used to selective focus.
I guess it takes a lot of skill.

The sharp leading edge and the overall unusual composition really make this! The colour palette is wonderful. No flash- was this naturally lit? Beautiful.

Thanks again folks Smile

More luck than judgement half the time Kate - especially as my macro lens is a tad iffy but as I can't stretch to a new one at the moment I'll live with it Smile

It was lit with my recalcitrant studio light(s) - a bit over-lit for the first few shots (I work by trial and error for flower pics rather than use the meter) - but it worked out nicely. The light then refused to play and wouldn't fire for most of the remaining shots Sad

Give those lights a good kick and a talking too I think Ali Grin Actually this is a rather attractive image, I like how you've selected your focus point and how you've let the DOF fall off so well.......Good piece of work in my book missus.....Well done to you!

Back again - finally - I'm trying to put my skeleton back together again and he's proving trickier than expected!

Thanks again folks - maybe I'll see how this prints up next time one of those cheap print offers turn up (yes, I'm a cheapskate)!

Thank you Ade for award - very much appreciated Smile I've decided to ignore the lights this evening - I had enough frustration with them last night and decided to take the evening off Smile
