Caterpillar

By cattyal
An early upload for me today - I'm hosting the Monday Night Challenge today and that, for some reason, seems to take up most of the evening.

Anyway, I found this caterpillar along with about 4 or 5 others tucked behind a bit of wood that has been leaning against the garage for a few years. I was going to lob said bit of wood onto the junk pile but as soon as I found these I left them be.

I did however lean the wood back a few inches, squished the lens between that and the side of the garage and took a few snaps first. For a pic taken in such an awkward position and with onboard flash it came out quite well.

Thanks everyone - a quick reply for the moment as I'm supposed to be working!

Just for you Chris I've popped up one taken with the X10 - not as good as the Sony one but mostly, possibly, due to the flash position on the camera (plus you can't do super-macro and use the onboard flash at the same time)

It looks like a saltmarsh moth caterpillar - I've just had an invasion of these in my garden Smile

I've just looked them up and sadly they don't seem to live in the UK Sad I must take a peek behind that bit of wood tomorrow if I remember and see if any of them are still there!
