Dead Still Life

By cattyal
As a result of a forum discussion about still life lighting I thought I'd get the softbox out to see how it compared against the reflector brolly. Certainly softer and I'll have to use it again.

The background is a bit of a disaster but it's a dress which isn't mine so I can't chop it up - I'll try again another day.

Fiddled with as per usual - mainly histogram adjustments for a change which worked quite nicely.

Old body parts, a borrowed dress, some dead plants and you've created a beautiful image. Who would have thought!.............Sandy

Wow! Love this! Added to my favorites. It has a scary but elegant quality to it - sort of mesmerizing.

Thanks everyone Smile Maybe it's a bit dark - I'm still working on my laptop at home and brighten it up to what I usually find an unacceptable level so that it's ok on every other monitor! One day I'll sort the laptop monitor out Smile

As for twisted mind - I like that Smile

scary but elegant describes me to a tee on a good day - the rest of the time it's scary and shabby Smile

Amazing image. Love the rich velvet frame to all the "dead" matter... Very artistic! IB

Interesting collection of 'grot', but sure makes for a great still-life.....I reckon 1/2 way between V1 & V2 might be about right....nice one !

I haven't got a 'velvety' dress for my 'stills', have to use an old blanket, then disguised behind 'X' number of textures......

Mmmmmm.....I wonder if a self-portrait of myself would come under the 'still-life' category..Wink...now there's a thought ???????

Thanks again everyone and thanks to Pete for the HC Smile

Apologies for the delay returning - I've just got back from a weekend away and will catch up ASAP!

Having been to a couple of car boots this morning I now have more pewter, copper and glass goodies for my still life pics Smile

Sorry Keith - you have to be dead to qualify as a still life Smile

I stopped the blue arsed fly bit - I've just treated myself to a veg watching CSI NY Smile

As for you Mark - you must eat some really strange stews Smile
