I give up - I just can't seem to lose the slight banding on the background without blowing out the left hand side of the vase so I'm going to call it quits tonight.
Any bright ideas will be appreciated - I've tried various layer combinations, burning, erasing, curves and whatever I use I either lose the left edge or the bit of shadow from the vase.
Maybe I'll be better taking the shot again sometime!

Looks pretty good from where I'm sat.
Never mind the rogue band, because in my view this is a superb image.
I must agree with ItsRichie
I've blown it up large and tilted the laptop in various directions and it still looks like a top image to me. V1 beautiful.
Thanks everyone Maybe I'm being a tad too critical then and looking at it too closely If you take a look at the mod I'm about to upload you'll see the bands easily!
I like to duplicate the layer and then change the blend to exclusion to spot unwanted nasties on my backgrounds.......
Gorgeous, lovely picture - bands, what bands...!
Whichever way you look at it, this is a fantastic shot. Version 1 is my favourite, love it.
I love the 2nd one best
Wonderful work, V.1 does it for me. Carol
I love it , both V1 and V2, great work.
I've looked and looked and I see nothing but a well done image. V1 is amazing.
Looks fine to me
Thank you again everyone and thank you KoPi for your award - very much appreciated
I'll admit that I can't now see the banding I was grumbling about on this upload. I could definitely see it when working in PSP but not now - ho hum - I must have been feeling really picky last night
