The Larger Version is Highly Recommended!

A Male Red-Veined Darter Dragonfly - Sympetrum fonscolombii...

... taken mid-flight at 1/6000s (just kidding!)...

Wouldn't that be cool though!

Oh well, this one gave me the impression of speed, so that explains the title at least.

Thanks for your comments!

Ade, all my uploads are meticulously calculated to make you turn as green as possible... it would be so boring otherwise!

LOL!

Fantastic colours. You're right, seeing the large version really shows how lovely and sharp it is.

Top work!

Extraordinary and exceptional, Tim. The large version, as you say, is particularly striking. I thought for a moment you were serious when you said it was in flight. Not that I'd be surprised.

At first I thought it was a bit soft from the small version but then opening the large one I see that's definitely not the case, the detail is fantastic (of course seeing who took it I should have known!). The red colouring does kinda look like racing apparel.

It looks like sea food, if this arrived on a platter I would tuck into it along with the lobster and crayfish!
Excellent close up but not such an endearing subject as usual.

This is great. It instantly reminded me of a jockey with the position it is in! I love the bold colours. The title works well too.

Large version is a must for this as the small one does give the illusion of softness.

Fantastic detail and vivd colour, excellent shot all round!

Amazing colour and clarity. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get one in flight just to see if it can be done. 70+ shots, mostly blank or blurred...someday maybe.

So many great comments and very much appreciated!

Verne, it has been done on EPZ, I have seen two emperor in-flight shots! An excellent attempt can be seen here !

Meg you are right about the font of course!

Cheers,

Tim
